Overview

A woman goes through many physical changes at every stage of her life. In the first stage of her age, she does not see herself surrounded by anything but as soon as she steps into the second stage, every woman starts her menstrual cycle. In the initial phase of menstruation, they have to face many problems, but after a time, they become comfortable with them too. This long-lasting menstrual cycle also begins to change and age comes when their years-long menstruation stops. This condition that occurs in women is called menopause. In this situation, there are many changes in the hormones of women. Although the age of menopause is between 40 and 50 years, in every woman, it comes at different age according to their changing lifestyle. At any time between the age of 50, when women do not have menstruation for about a year, they reach the state of menopause.

Menstruation is natural for every woman, which starts at different ages due to the changing hormones in her body. Similarly, the state of menopause also starts naturally when the menstrual cycle in women shuts down completely. It cannot be called a disease because it is a natural activity of the body of women which comes with age. In this situation, women almost lose their ability to become a mother. This situation does not happen suddenly, this process happens very slowly, after which many changes are seen in the body of women.

Causes of Menopause

Common causes of menopause include-

  • Decrease in hormones

As women age, there is a shortage of hormones in their bodies. These hormones are called estrogen and progesterone, which are produced by the ovaries of women. These hormones are released from the ovaries every month and control menstruation. When women's ovaries stop producing hormones called estrogen and progesterone, or there is a decrease in them, the ovaries stop expelling eggs, so that women do not get periods, after which they have to face menopause.

  • Surgery

When a woman's ovaries are surgically removed for some reason, after which her periods stop and this condition causes her menopause. There are many reasons such as continuous bleeding in excessive amounts, ectopic pregnancy, lump in the ovary, long-term pain in the pelvic or pelvis, endometriosis, uterine enlargement, shrinkage of the uterus, tumor in the uterus, due to which the ovaries have to be removed from the woman's body and she has to face the condition of menopause.

  • Pelvic injuries

An injury to a woman's pelvis that severely damages or destroys the ovaries can lead to menopause. These injuries include an accident, a fracture in the pelvis, sexual assault, injuries to the vagina or cervix that may occur during labor, which can lead to menopause.

  • Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy

These cancer treatments can induce menopause if a woman is diagnosed with cancer and has to resort to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. During chemotherapy, women experience irregular menstrual cycles or amenorrhea (menstruation). Some of the drugs used in chemotherapy can also damage the ovaries, which can result in menopausal symptoms or menopause.

  • Ovarian failure

There is about 1 percent of women in India have to face menopause before the age of 40, due to which their ovaries do not function properly. Such women have premature menopause, normal levels of reproductive hormones. These women's ovaries stop working because of certain genetic factors or an autoimmune disease, which can often lead to premature menopause.
